thermo fax screen printing and 3D pods

Thursday 21 May saw St. Ives Textiles hard at "play"
on a fantastic "full on" workshop with textiles tutor Lynda Monk

working and sampling with thermofax screen printing, using lutradur, xpandaprint,
heat guns and heat presses, foils and embossing powders and making 3D pods and flowers

working mostly on lutradur (which can be stitched into later) and scrim
we also worked on khadi paper and watercolour paper with walnut inks and paints with salt
and learned how to present work 3D with butterfly pins on canvasses blacked with gesso

we all enjoyed making "pods" from pieces of lutradur
which were stitched together by machine to make 3D forms
but we we ran out of time and not everyone finished their pods ...

so homework is to finish them off with colour and foils
and we will have a display of them to share at the next "get together"

we hope you pop back here next time to see vases full of our pods
or better still come and see them in person at our show!
